Your data, explained clearly

Privacy
Notice.

This notice explains what TradesChart collects, why we use it, when we disclose it, and the choices you have.

Effective and last updated: September 4, 2026

The short version

Receipts and personal account details are private. Public charts use reviewed, grouped pricing information. TradesChart does not publish your email, receipt, private notes, exact ZIP code, or account-to-submission link.

01

Scope

This Privacy Notice applies to the TradesChart website, accounts, submission tools, moderation systems, and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described here and in our Terms of Use & EULA.

02

Information we collect

Account and authentication information. When you create or use an account, we process your email address, account identifier, verification status, optional display name, authentication provider, and sign-in state. If you use email and password, our sign-in form sends the password from your browser directly to Firebase Authentication. The TradesChart application server does not receive or store your readable password. Firebase uses browser session storage to maintain your sign-in session.

Price submissions. We collect the trade, description of the work, quoted or paid amount, market city, ZIP code, price type, submission time, and any contractor name or note you choose to provide.

Receipts and invoices. If you upload evidence, we collect the file and basic file information needed to validate and store it. Images may be resized and re-encoded in your browser before upload, which also removes embedded image metadata. PDFs are stored as submitted, so you should remove unnecessary sensitive information first.

Technical and security information. Your browser automatically sends information such as an IP address, browser or device details, requested page, and request time to our hosting and authentication providers. They may process this information to deliver the Service, secure accounts, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse.

03

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; receive and review submissions; verify supporting evidence; classify comparable jobs; calculate local market statistics; show account status; prevent fraud, spam, and manipulation; investigate problems; enforce our Terms; comply with law; and maintain, protect, and improve the Service.

TradesChart does not currently use third-party advertising pixels or sell personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

04

When we disclose information

We disclose information only as reasonably needed to operate the Service, including to infrastructure and authentication providers that process information for us. TradesChart currently uses Cloudflare for website delivery, database, and receipt storage, and Google Firebase for authentication.

We may also disclose information when required by law or valid legal process; to investigate fraud, abuse, security threats, or violations of our Terms; to protect people, rights, property, or the Service; with your direction or consent; or as part of a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

05

Public and commercial market data

After staff review, approved job and pricing information may contribute to public charts, grouped insights, and commercial or licensed market-data products. Those uses may include the standardized job category, general market city, price, price type, and date or time period.

Public and commercial outputs are designed to exclude your email, name, receipt, private notes, contractor name, exact ZIP code, account identifier, and the link between you and the submission. We use minimum sample thresholds and aggregation where appropriate, but no de-identification method can promise zero re-identification risk.

06

Receipts and sensitive details

Receipts are private evidence available only to authorized reviewers and service providers that store or deliver the file. They are not part of the public market. Before uploading, remove payment-card numbers, bank information, medical information, access codes, unrelated addresses, and another person’s sensitive information.

We use a receipt to review the related price, prevent abuse, investigate disputes, and protect data quality. Deleting your TradesChart account deletes receipt files linked to that account from active TradesChart storage.

07

How long we keep information

We keep account information, submissions, moderation records, and receipts for as long as reasonably needed to provide and protect the Service, maintain data integrity, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, meet legal obligations, and support legitimate business records.

When you delete your account, TradesChart removes the account record, receipts, private notes, contractor names, exact ZIP codes, and the account link from active TradesChart storage. Pending and rejected submissions linked to the account are deleted. Approved pricing records may remain as de-identified market data containing the job category, general city, price, price type, and date. Service-provider backups and security logs may remain for a limited period under those providers’ retention practices.

To prevent delayed requests from recreating deleted data, we keep a limited security marker containing a one-way hash of the authentication identifier, not your email or receipt. The marker expires after 30 days and is removed during subsequent account-deletion or authenticated submission activity. It is not included in market data. If file removal or sign-in account deletion fails, the account page will ask you to retry rather than claim that every step is complete.

08

Your choices and privacy rights

You can sign out or delete your account from the account page. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account, or to ask how it has been used or disclosed. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may be retained where permitted or required by law.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights such as obtaining a copy of personal information, correcting inaccurate information, limiting certain uses, opting out of certain transfers, appealing a denied request, or receiving equal service after exercising a privacy right. We will respond to applicable requests as required by law.

09

Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards designed for the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections, provider-managed encryption at rest, private receipt storage, verified authentication tokens, role-based moderation access, input and file validation, request-size and submission limits, audit records, and browser security headers.

No online system is perfectly secure. Protect your password, sign out of shared devices, and contact us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.

10

Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

11

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the Service, our practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated notice with a new effective date and provide additional notice or request consent when required.
